OVERSIZED LONG SLEEVE T-SHIRT - 1893 - SKY BLUE
On January 17, 1893, the people of Hawaiʻi had their nation overthrown by a small group of businessmen, most of whom were American citizens or Kingdom subjects with foreign ties. Their plan: force out the Queen, paper the Hawaiian Kingdom out of existence, and hand the islands over to the U.S.
But for the next five years, the people of Hawaiʻi rebelled. They formed political groups, waged a massive petition drive, wrote protest songs, and, for a moment, successfully convinced Washington to reject annexation. These Hawaiians called themselves aloha ʻāina, people who loved and were loyal to the land. This t-shirt release is a small contribution to that legacy of pushing back against injustice.
